American Transport, Inc. has been licensed by the United States Federal Highway Administration as a certificated carrier and has been granted general commodity 49 state common and contract authority. The company is also licensed in most Canadian provinces. ATI commenced operation on October 15, 1986, and was formed by the management team, which had operated the Special Commodities Division of Carolina Freight Carriers Corporation from 1976 to 1986. American Transport specializes in the movement of truckload shipments, 80% of which are moved on flatbeds, stepdecks, and specialized equipment, and 20% on vans, reefers, and containers. Major commodities include machinery, steel, lumber and building products, food products and general commodities. At the present time ATI has a fleet of approximately 232 active units, approximately 65 terminals and had adjusted gross revenue of $54.8 million in fiscal 2006. Projected revenue in 2007 is $63.0 million.
